Description

Creating and embedding culture and practice that enables every young person to thrive.

What are the benefits to practice?

  • A shared understanding of inclusive culture – exploring how schools can create environments where every child feels a sense of belonging, develops their identity and has opportunities to flourish.

  • Confidence in articulating inclusive practice – understanding how to present inclusion effectively through the language of inspection, ensuring that strong practice is recognised and evidenced during Ofsted visits.

  • Strategies for supporting vulnerable learners – particularly pupils who find writing challenging, disengage from literacy or communicate in different ways.

  • Creative approaches to literacy – learning how storytelling, talk, drama, poetry, performance, art and other multimodal approaches can enable children to engage with literacy without the barrier of extended writing.

  • Whole-school tools and strategies – gaining ideas that can be implemented immediately to strengthen teaching, curriculum design, participation and inclusion across all phases.

  • Inspiration and renewed purpose – leaving with fresh thinking, practical resources and the confidence to ensure that every child is seen, valued and supported to flourish.

Opening Keynote and Workshops

Becoming More Them: Reimagining Education for Every Young Person

This opening keynote will capture Rachel’s distinctive vision for education, her commitment to equity and authentic oracy, and the importance of creating schools where every young person can thrive as themselves.

Inclusive by Design, Ready for Inspection: Evidence, Impact and Practice

Helen Youngman – Workshop

A practical workshop supporting school leaders to confidently articulate their inclusive practice, present key evidence and respond effectively to inspectors’ questions.

Inspiring the Vulnerable Writer

Christian Foley – Workshop

In this inspiring and practical workshop, Christian Foley explores how spoken word, poetry and hip-hop can engage vulnerable writers, unlock creativity and give young people a powerful platform for self-expression.

Bringing the DfE’s Seven Principles of Inclusion into Practice

The conference connects these principles with practical approaches that school leaders and staff can take forward in their own settings.

  • Ambitious leadership and governance – Helen Youngman’s workshop supports leaders to articulate and evidence a whole-school approach to inclusion, reinforcing that inclusion is everyone’s responsibility.

  • Evidence-based support and early intervention – Christian Foley’s workshop explores ways to recognise barriers to writing and engage vulnerable learners, supporting discussion about identifying needs early and responding effectively.

  • High-quality adaptive teaching and an inclusive curriculum – Sessions explore how oracy, communication and creative approaches to literacy can help schools adapt learning and improve curriculum access.

  • A safe and respectful culture that fosters belonging – Rachel Higginson’s keynote places equity and authentic oracy at the heart of school culture, exploring how every young person can feel heard, valued and able to thrive as themselves.

  • Strong partnerships with families and wider services – Networking and collaborative workshops provide opportunities to share practice, strengthen professional connections and reflect on working with families and wider services.

  • Inclusive environments and accessibility – A whole-school focus encourages participants to consider how teaching, communication and learning environments can remove barriers and support meaningful participation.

  • Enriching provision beyond the classroom – Spoken word, poetry, performance and creative expression offer opportunities to strengthen pupil voice and participation, with ideas that can extend into enrichment activities and wider school life.
